The Naked Florist Experience- Jess + Matt

Photos by Rope and Pulley

Jess was a special one. Although I didn’t know it at the time, Jess and I had actually met before. Many moons ago I used to have market stall selling bouquets out of my vintage Volkswagen Beetle here in Newcastle. We met, we chatted and she bought some blooms. Unbenownst to me, from this very day she had followed me on socials and had been following my journey since. It wasn’t until our initial consult we met again and clicked straight away. Much like her husband Matt, Jess is just someone who just oozes warmth and joy and that was certainly felt on the day. Fast forward to a few weeks post wedding, I reached out to Jess to thank her for allowing us to create for her and this is where she shared the most beautiful photos of her little ones holding her flowers, then and now. Something so special to me, but to her too. I had no idea until then that we already had met before.

When delivering our flowers the morning of I presented to her daughter her flower girl bouquet in soft purple as requested and just like her mum responded with overwhelming joy and surprise at the fact she got her favourite colour for her bouquet. It melted me, I cried and in this moment I felt the true impacts of what my creations can hold for another and it was beautiful.

So naturally, I have to share this one with you. It’s so special but most of all full of genuine moments that reflect Jess and Matt as the couple they they are; joyous.

We asked bride Jess about her experience with us and here’s what she had to say:

What stood out the most about your experience with us?

Ash's passion for what she does, this was one of the main reasons we asked her to create our vision for the wedding. She got to know us and our style and created a day that felt just like us, the day to us was about having fun and relaxing with the people we love most. Both the ceremony and reception just really felt so bright and beautiful, and we felt so comfortable and happy in both spaces. She even did a custom bouquet for my daughter who is purple obsessed. It was the little personal touches and how much she cared about our day that made the entire experience so special.

Did you feel relaxed, confident and informed during the booking process?

Absolutely, I had been following Ash since I purchased a cute little bouquet from her at the markets back in 2017, she was selling flowers out of the back of her vintage VW bug, and she was just so lovely that day, the experience kind of stuck with me. Over the years I watched her business grow into what it is today, so when we got engaged it was a no brainer, I already felt confidence in who I was asking to play such an important part of our big day. The experience was just as I imagined and at no point did I ever question booking Ash, she made us feel comfortable throughout the entire process.

If we weren't to have created for you, do you think your day would have had the same feeling?

I do feel that I would have been disappointed from the beginning because I was already certain in my mind that she was going to be doing the flowers for our wedding! It makes me glad that I reached out to her so quickly after we started planning the wedding, because I feel I would have been extremely dissapointed and I can't imagine that the vision we had could have been executed the way it was by anyone else. The joy I felt that day was indescribable, I can't imagine many others being able to create what she did that day.

Did we exceed your expectations in any way?

I already had high expectations, but somehow, they were all exceeded. I do think going in with an open mind and not being too set on anything was a key factor in that, allowing Ash work her creative magic, left us open to the amazing results we ended up with. Trusting her to run with what she knew about us, and we ended up with what felt like works of art, the vibe was just so fun, it was exactly what we asked for.

Lastly, did you love what we created for you?

A month has almost passed and people are still commenting on the flowers! On the day, people commented more on my flowers than any other detail of the wedding, even my dress! We absolutely loved them, probably more than I thought possible to love flowers, it was like a dream!

Apart from Ash's beautiful work, one of the best parts of this was working with Ash just as a person. She is so lovely and down to earth and her passion for what she does is infectious, she is such a joy to work with and I wish I could somehow work with her more, it makes me sad that it's now all over! The entire experience was just beautiful, I can never thank her enough for all that she has done for us.
